Derry car parks accepting new £1 coin

The new £1 coin can be used to pay for car parking in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area (D.C.S.D.C.)

All council owned off-street car parks have already been adapted to accommodate the dimensions of the new 12 sided £1 coin which went into circulation on Tuesday.

The machines will also accept the old £1 coins until October 2017, when they cease to be legal tender.

A council spokesperson said clear instructions will be provided to indicate the accepted coins at all payment machines.

There are 2018 car parking spaces in council owned car parks in the D.C.S.D.C. area, according to the official webite
