Derry & Inishowen Business Awards finalists

Schools, art groups and a wide range of firms and traders from Derry and Inishowen have made it to the shortlist for the North West Business Awards 2016.

The business awards are being run by Derry’s Chamber of Commerce and City Centre Initiative, in partnership with Bank of Ireland UK, and the organisers have described the response as “amazing”.

The finalists will gather on May 13 at the City Hotel where the winners will be announced.

There are 14 categories including Best Tourism initiative, Craft Industry of the Year, Pub of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to Arts and Culture, and Growth through Export. Nominations for the Best Use of Digital/ Social Media include St Mary’s College, Foyleside Shopping Centre and McGrory’s Hotel. Others who have made the shortlist in the various categories include Walled City Brewery, Argyle Bar, The Bentley, Primrose, Pier 59, Hastings Everglades Hotel, Culturlann Ui Chanain, the Belfray, An Grianan Hotel , J.E. Hegarty & Co and Bradley’s Pharmacy.

Jim Roddy, City Centre manager said: “I think that the broad range of businesses and individuals who have entered showcases all that is successful and unique about our city.”

Sinead McLaughlin, Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce, added: “I am delighted at the quality of the businesses that have come forward.”
