The Friars of the Renewal have named their new pet ‘Robbie’ and say he visits them religiously every day to beg for food.

On their facebook site the Friars said:“The cool thing is that he’s not afraid of us at all. He hops right into our hand and eats away. It’s the most beautiful thing. It makes me think of our relationship with God. So many people are afraid to really come close and intimate with God.

“As soon as he does anything we can tend to run away. But not Robbie... he’s so confident of being looked after and loved. If we could do this with God.

“Instead of running away if we could take heart and believe that he will only give us the good things that we need because he really does love us. He will never disappoint. The more bold and confident we are of his love the more God will show up in our lives and pour his love on us.... enjoy.”

The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal will hold a healing Mass in St Joseph’s Galliagh on Friday night (March 4) at 8 p.m.)
