Angela Mullan has lived in her Rushie Park home for 17 years.

Last Friday night she attended a friend’s anniversary mass. She says she received a call to say her kitchen windows were smashed in.

Angela, who only has the use of one arm, says she’s been left devastated by what happened.

“It was shocking and I’m frightened,” says Angela, who lives alone. “I’ve been here 17 years. This is my home and I’m not for leaving.”

Sinn Fein councillor, Brenda Chivers, lives in Drumsurn. She’s been helping Angela since the incident.

“Angela is very frightened,” said Colr. Chivers. She was at mass for her friend and she came home to find this. It’s very distressing for her.”

Colr. Chivers said the incident has struck fear in the community, especially in an area which is home to several older people.

“Drumsurn has very little crime. What’s happened is not welcome and I totally condemn it.

“I hope whoever is responsible for this is apprehended and dealt with appropriately through the court system,” added Colr. Chivers.

It is understood police arrested and charged a male in relation to the incident, and he is due to appear in court at a later date.
