Eileen Doherty-widow of Paddy '˜Bogside' Doherty to be laid to rest tomorrow

The funeral of the widow of Paddy '˜Bogside' Doherty, Mrs Eileen Doherty, will take place in Derry tomorrow.

Mrs Doherty sadly passed away at the weekend just a few weeks since the passing of her husband who was a legendary figure within the civil rights movement in the city. Mrs Doherty had been ill for a considerable period.

Her remains will leave her home at Westland Street tomorrow morning, Tuesday, March 1 for Mass at 10am at nearby st Eugene’s cathedral. Her remains will be laid to rest afterwards afterwards at Derry City Cemetery alongside her husbands.

Predeceased by her daughter Doreen, she is survived by her sons, John, Hugh, Declan, Kieran, Kevin and Brendan as well as daugthers, Roisin, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Paddyann, Fiona and Nuala. She is also survived by 43 grandchildren, 46-great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
