Appeal to support local newspaper industry - Foyle MLA Mullan
The Foyle MLA said: “We all know the devastating consequences the coronavirus pandemic is having right across many industries. There is a growing concern about what it is having on the newspaper industry both locally and at a national 32 county level.
“With the restrictions on people going out, businesses being closed and a drop off in advertising revenue and sales, and the subsequent impact it is having on the local newspaper industry.

“Whilst some newspapers are available online people still like to be able to go and buy their local weekly or daily titles and at the same time support the local newsagent and corner shop.
“It would be very worrying if we start to lose any of our local titles. They have been the lifeblood of many communities for years and a reference point of trusted information.
“I would appeal to anyone out doing their daily shop to buy a local paper and support businesses which in some cases have been about for over 100 years.”
