DfI to launch consultation on revised Bogside scheme

A fresh consultation on a residents’ parking scheme for the Bogside is to be launched shortly, the Department for Infrastructure has confirmed.

A previously proposed scheme in the Rossville Street area attracted a significant level of objections and so a revised project is now being worked on.

The department outlined the new development after Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Karen Mullan complained of a lack of progress on parking issues in the area.

A Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesman said: “Given the level of objection arising from the public consultation into the original Residents’ Parking scheme in the Rossville Area, the Department is now taking forward a consultation on a reduced scheme.

“Residents within the proposed area will be notified just prior to commencement of the consultation and details will also be advertised in the local papers.”

Ms. Mullan said last week: “The traffic and parking issues in the Bogside and Bishop Street have been ongoing for years and are continuing to grow.”
