Discussions involving Council and GDI over the famous Glen zig zag steps

Discussions are underway around the redevelopment of land around a landmark series of steps in a popular Derry park.

The ‘zig zag’ steps that link the Glen and Rosemount with the Northland Road are the subject of discussions between Derry City and Strabane District Council and the local community group, the Glen Development Initiative (GDI).

Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper speaking after meeting GDI and officers from the local authority to discuss design development proposals for land around the zig zag path. The steps are an entry point to Creggan Burn park for the residents of the Glen and Rosemount.

Councillor Cooper said: “I was pleased that this meeting took place to try and push forward plans for the zig zag paths at Creggan Burn. This is a popular area so it’s important we get this right and is done in as short a time frame as possible. I look forward to some initial design proposals being produced in the New Year and would like to thank the GDI and the Council for their work on this.”
