Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Brian Tierney, welcomed the reopening of the facility.

"I am pleased Eglinton Recycling Centre has reopened to the public following extensive work by Council officers and the site owners, in consultation with the HSE, to ensure the necessary health and safety measures are in place at this mixed use site," he said.

"The reopening is timely ahead of the Christmas period for residents in the area who have been using our other Household Recycling Centres while a solution was found.

"I would like to encourage users to be on time for their appointments so that staff can maintain social distancing and implement the traffic management measures in place effectively."
