Among those in attendance were SDLP Leader, Foyle MP Colum Eastwood, Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan and Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Brian Tierney.

Ms McLaughlin said: “I am delighted to at last be able to open my office and welcome constituents, though of course we must all still abide by social distancing. We have been doing online and telephone surgeries and constituent support throughout the lockdown, but it does not provide the same sense of personal connection.

“The office is conveniently located on the Waterside but very close to the city side and adjacent to Craigavon Bridge, with good car parking. Our team of workers is available and keen to support my constituents.

“It is strange to have been an MLA for several months without being able to open up my office, but this will be an opportunity to be more visible, while continuing to undertake the already very high level of work for constituents,” she added.
