Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Karen Mullan said: “It’s great news that the Foyleside DEA draft play park plan is advising that major play provision is being recommended for Hazelbank.

“I along with Councillor Mickey Cooper and local residents have been lobbying for this area to get much needed play provision. It will complement the proposed new community build as well as new facilities being considered for the Lower Strand Road, Coshquin areas and more local facilities for sites such as St. Eithne’s.

“This will provide an excellent opportunity to develop a neighbourhood play area supported by facilities in the proposed community centre which would also provide a car park and other facilities. There is a long way to go to ensure funding is in place as well as planning permission in some cases. But we will continue to lobby to ensure the projects come to fruition.”
