Invisible road signs in Derry confusing visitors and delivery men, says Logue

Delivery drivers and visitors may struggle to find their bearings when entering Derry from the south so obscure are some of the road signs in the area.

That’s a concern that has been raised by Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue who has complained about ‘invisible road signs’ on the Foyle Road.

She was speaking after motorists contacted her raising concerns and called for remedial work to be undertaken to address the problem.

Councillor Logue said: “A number of motorists contacted me to say several road direction signs in the Foyle Road area were invisible as they were covered in green moss and dirt and could something be done.

“This a very busy route into our city centre so it’s important that people, particularly delivery vans , emergency services and visitors know where they are going. People fully understand that a lot of work that is normally carried out by Transport NI has been impacted by COVID, but I hope they can get these signs cleaned before the onset of winter.”
