Nazareth House building site secured for the festive holiday period

The housing association behind a new development at the old Nazareth House site has secured the compound to prevent trespassing.

Residents raised concerns that the site could become a magnet for anti-social behaviour over the holidays. Choice Housing are currently refurbishing the Grade B2 Listed Building and developing houses and apartments.

“Choice are pleased to confirm that we met with local representatives last week to ensure that all residents’ concerns were addressed prior to the holiday period,” a spokesperson for the association said.

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan and Councillor Patricia Logue took part in the meeting and discussed concerns about anti-community behaviour and general upkeep of the site.

“I’m delighted that the contractor has agreed to clean the road and pavements around the site. We have asked the housing association and the contractor to ensure that the site is secure over Christmas to prevent any access to it, and called for further clean ups to take place in the New Year,” said Ms. Mullan.
