Rowdy conduct in The Moor ‘intolerable’

The aggravation many families are suffering as a result of the rowdy behaviour of juveniles and some young people across areas like The Moor is becoming intolerable, People Before Profit Councillor Eamonn McCann has warned.

Colr. McCann said: “We face tight restrictions as a result of the pandemic. This is on top of an economic crisis which is making Christmas a cold prospect. People are at their wits end.

“The eruptions are all the more alarming after years of rioting and worse. Many older people are frightened in their own homes.

“The young people involved are putting themselves and their futures at risk. Of course, many think they don’t have a future. That’s part of the problem. It’s important we don’t give up on them – even though you get a very blunt answer if you challenge the youngsters or try to chastise them. They are still products of our area and the history of what’s been done to it,” the Derry City & Strabane District Councillor added.
