‘There is also pressure on getting the right housing for young adults with addiction’

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan and the party’s local housing spokesperson Councillor Patricia Logue have asked for a meeting with the Housing Executive to look at all aspects of Supportive Housing schemes in the city.

The Foyle MLA said: “Derry like all cities is forever changing with the demands of modern life and society.

“One of the key aspects of this is ongoing demands on the Housing Executive and housing associations particularly on the issue of specialist temporary housing.

“There is also pressure on getting the right housing for young adults with addiction and other issues.”

She said housing young people struggling with addiction was often a complex process.

“We have asked the Housing Executive for a meeting to look at all aspects of Supportive Housing schemes in the city.

“It’s important that we are fully aware of how much support there is in the city, any challenges this throws up for host communities and all work together to find solutions,” she said.
