The Clap for Carers was undoubtedly one of the most heartwarming displays of human soldarity since COVID19 paused life as we have always known it. People of all ages, all faiths and none, all backgrounds acting as one.
The different church denominations across the city, towns and villages of the north west took part in the event with the music of the bells ringing out into the darkness.

In Derry city, from Galliagh to Nixons Corner, Bonds Street to Prehen, people came out to show their appreciation.
Among those who were cheering and clapping in Woodbrook were relatives and neighbours of Helena Morrison, a nurse at Grangewood Hospital. Helena shared the scenes in the video clip above.
There were similar heartwarming scenes among the staff, classroom assistants and administration staff from St Eithne’s Primary School who were “honouring our superheroes”, and also shared a video clip.
