Firstsource in talks with small number of staff

Firstsource Solutions has refused to be drawn on whether or not four managers at its Derry site are to be let go, but confirmed the firm is in negotiation with a '˜small number of staff' at the Northland Road Call Centre.

A spokesperson for the multi-national outsourcing operator said: “We are in a consultation process with a small number of people at our Derry site.

“To respect the privacy of our employees, we will not be making any further comment on this matter at this time.”

The firm revealed talks were taking place after the ‘Journal’ was contacted by a source, who claimed that assistant contact centre managers (ACCM) at Northland Road had been informed in October that there would likely be redeployments within the company. However, the source, who asked not to be named, told the ‘Journal’ that situation changed last week.

“Four people were not successful and they were told they would have an option of another job but this fell through. “They have since learned that redundancy is the only option,” the source said.

Firstsource wouldn’t give details of the numbers of staff affected.
