Speaking about the show, Aislinn said: “This exhibition, Reflections on the Foyle, is a collection of paintings completed for the first part of my HND Fine Art.

“I was born and raised in Derry and the pieces are an expression of my love for my home town, in particular the River Foyle and the illusory effects of light on the Foyle at night.

“They range from representational style to abstract and collage.

“My main chosen medium for this body of work was oil on paper and canvas, however a few of the pieces are mixed media.

“The expressionistic techniques used in the majority of the paintings are my response to my interest and study of the works of Hans Hoffman, Gerhard Richter and Morris.”

Aislinn is a Science graduate and teacher who has now returned to full-time study at North West Regional College, completing her HND in Fine Art.

This exhibition will be Aislinn’s first solo painting exhibition. Previously, she exhibited her first solo large installation in the Playhouse Theatre, Derry in July 2016. It was constructed of 140 white roses suspended in bags of various coloured dyes, infested with worms and pierced with needles, representing William Blake’s poem ‘The Sick Rose’.
