Foreglen fire being treated as '˜suspicious'

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) is treating a fire at a derelict bungalow in Foreglen as 'deliberate'.

The fire was reported to NIFRS at 7:30am on Friday and three fire appliances attended the scene of the blaze.

Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and have now left the scene.

A spokesperson for NIFRS said the incident had now been passed to Limavady police to investigate.

“Two fire appliances from Crescent Link Fire Station and one fire appliance from Dungiven Fire Station were deployed to the scene. Firefighters using thermal imaging cameras, two hose-reel jets and one other jet dealt with a ground floor fire at a vacant detached bungalow in the area.

“NIFRS finished at the scene at 10:04am and the fire is being treated as deliberate. The incident has now been passed through to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.”
