Former Derry striker passes away
The 65-year-old spent most of his career playing centre-forward with Bolton Wanderers, and scored 55 goals with the club during his 236 match record from 1968 to 1975.
One of the highlights of his career came in October 1971, when he netted a hatrick in Bolton’s victory over Manchester City in the League Cup.

Hide AdFollowing his time with Bolton Wanderers, Jones played six times for the Candy Stripes and netted twice in city’s first game in the League of Ireland in their 3-1 win over Home Farm back in 1985.
News of his death has been posted on Derry City’s website.
During his career he also had stints at Blackpool, Sheffield United, Hereford united, Runcorn and Los Angeles Aztecs.
The father-of-three had lived in Bramhall, Cheshire and it is understood he passed away earlier this week.
