Foyle Search and Rescue volunteer injured after eight call outs on Saturday night

A volunteer from Foyle Search and Rescue was injured on Saturday while assisting a person in distress.

The team which consisted of shore, jeep and boat crews were called out to a total of eight separate incidents.

The incidents included: causes for concern, persons at the railings and a missing person call out.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Unfortunately one of our volunteers was injured while dealing with a person in distress and attended hospital for a leg injury. FSR would like to compliment Saturday night’s Duty Team for the professional way they dealt with all events and wish our volunteer a speedy recovery.”
