Foyle Search & Rescue and PSNI remove person to safety

Foyle Search & Rescue and PSNI personnel removed a person in distress to safety during an emergency operation earlier today.

The charity has confirmed that at 4.31am on Saturday morning, Foyle Search & Rescue’s Pager system was activated by the Police Service of Northern Ireland to reports of a person observed in distress.

A spokesperson for Foyle Search and Rescue said: “Our Emergency Response Team immediately responded via two mobile units and boat. On arrival at the location, Foyle Search and Rescue volunteers conducted a successful intervention supported by the PSNI. The person was then removed to a place of safety with all FSR call signs stood down.”

The Derry-based charity expressed appreciation for the local CCTV team, the PSNI and its volunteers “for their assistance and quick response”.
