Derry man Tony Taylor, (48), was returned to prison earlier this year.

Mr. Taylor, a local spokesperson for Republican Network for Unity (RNU), was returned to prison earlier this year after Secretary of State, Theresa Villiers, revoked his licence.

Danny Millar from Cogús POWs called on those responsible for attacking and removing the billboards to stop.

“Cogús POWs and RNU activists know that there is a criminal element behind these attacks and there are strong indications that these people are acting on behalf of more sinister elements like the British security and intelligence forces,” he said.

“We would call on these people to come to their senses and desist immediately.”
