General Election 2016: Second day of counting underway in Donegal constituency
The second day of counting got underway in Letterkenny on Sunday morning. It began with a re-check of the votes of Sinn Fein candidates Gary Doherty, Pearse Doherty and Independent candidate Dessie Shiels. Sinn Fein asked for a re-check in the early hours of Sunday morning following the elimination of Gary Doherty on the seventh count. There are just seven votes between Mr Doherty and Dessie Shiels.
The only candidate elected by Sunday morning, following a long day in Letterkenny on Saturday, was Fianna Fail candidate Charlie McConalogue, who topped the poll.
