Gerard Guckian among those honoured with MBE
The outgoing chair of the Western Trust, Gerard Guckian, has received an MBE for his services to health as part of Queen Elizabeth's birthday honours list.
Also recognised are Anne McDowell, principal of Galliagh Nursery School and principal of Drumahoe P.S. Terry McMaster who were both awarded MBEs for the services to education.
Mr Guckian who announced at Thursday’s monthly Western Trust meeting that he was stepping down, said he believed the recognition came on the back of work that has been done in the organisation during the last ten years including the opening of the South Wing at Altnagelvin and the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.
