The event take place in Belfast this year.

Encouraging local people to attend, Foyle MLA and former Hunger Striker Raymond McCartney said: “The march to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the 1981 Hunger Strike will take place on Sunday, August 14 at 2pm. The assembly point is Divis Tower and there is easy access just off the Westlink to proceed up the Falls Road.

“The prison struggle of the late 1970s and early 1980s were without any doubt a key moment in the Irish struggle for freedom and justice. And within that period the Hunger Strike of 1981 is of course the defining moment.”
