At the time of publishing this article almost £4,000 had been donated.

Twenty-seven year-old McClean was born and reared close to where the McGavigan family live.

McClean, who plays for English Premier League side, West Bromwich Albion, is no stranger to charitable acts.

Last year he donated money to a local refuge for homeless men with an alcohol dependency.
