'˜Junior' McDaid House willallow us to rebuild: Mellon

Speaking at Chamberlain Street on Saturday, he said ‘Junior’ McDaid House would be a hub for the work of the IRPWA and a base for the new ‘revolutionary’ republican party, Saoradh.

He said: “I also want to thank the family of IRA Staff Captain James ‘Junior’ McDaid for allowing us to name this office after him. Junior was a committed soldier of the Irish Republic who dedicated his life to the freedom struggle and paid the ultimate sacrifice while trying to achieve our goals. I also think it is important to point out that those Republicans gathered here today share the same beliefs that ‘Junior’ held, both in terms of ideology and the methods required to achieve a 32 county socialist Republic. What IRA volunteer ‘Junior’ McDaid fought for, what he went to jail for and what he died for, is unfinished business, as far as the Republican Movement is concerned.”
