Limavady arson: '˜This could have been much worse'

Police in Limavady have published pictures of the damage caused by an arson attack at a flat in the town in a fresh appeal for information.

The blaze at the Kennaught Terrace flat occurred in the early hours of April 10th, at approximately 2.05am.

One man and two police officers were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was ‘deliberate’, according to the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service.

On Thursday, PSNI Limavady posted two pictures of the damage to the flat on their Facebook page and stated: “Scene of the weekend fire in Limavady where two local officers and a member of the public went into the property to make sure no one was trapped.

“Thankfully no one was seriously injured, however, the two officers required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.

“The fire was started deliberately so, if you were about Kennaught Terrace during the early hours of Sunday, and saw anything suspicious let us know. This could have been much worse.”
