  • 12 fire appliances and 46 firefighters are currently at the scene
  • Fire broke out inside ‘grain shed’ at around 11am
  • PSNI shutdown nearby roads
  • Declared major incident by NIFRS

PSNI confirm fire is near Port Road

Motorists are advised that the Port Road in Derry is currently closed due to a large fire

 The PSNI is encouraging motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Foyle Port said:

“We are aware of an incident that has taken place in one of the sheds on the Foyle Port site and are carrying out all appropriate procedures. 

"The emergency services are now at the Port and dealing with the incident.”
