Major scheme to tackle parking at Nailor's Row to get under way

Preparatory work for a major public realms scheme at Nailor's Row in Derry's city centre is due to get under way within days.

The £650,000 project is now expected to be completed in July 2017, and will address issues with unregulated parking and access for emergency vehicles.

Apex Housing have recently appointed Patrick Bradley Ltd as the main contractor. The Department for Communities, which is providing the lion’s share of funding, confirmed that NI Water “will shortly undertake preparatory works in advance of the contractor commencing construction in late March 2017”.

Improvements will include the replacement of paving with a high quality surface material, new street lighting and planting of trees and bedding plants. The installation of both fixed and retractable bollards will also restrict car parking and improve accessibility for emergency services.
