Man dies following Donegal crash

A man in his early 30s has died following a car crash in Donegal.

Gardaí are investigating the two vehicle collision, which occurred on the main Letterkenny to Lifford Road at Tullyrap, Raphoe just before 1pm on Thursday.

A car with two occupants collided with a lorry and both the driver and passenger were brought to Letterkenny Hospital.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead in the early hours of Friday morning.

The woman, aged in her late teens, remains in Letterkenny Hospital.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured and the road has since re-opened.

The man’s death brings to six the number of people killed as a result of road crashes in the greater Letterkenny area in little over a week.

At around 1am on Thursday, July 28, two cars crashed in an area known as Corravaddy, about four miles from Letterkenny.

Three young people, Stephen McCafferty, Teresa Robinson and Kaylem Ó Murachaidh lost their lives in the crash.

At approximately 4.45am the previous morning a car collided head on with a van on the inbound carriageway of the N13 (dual carriageway) at Trimragh, Letterkenny.

Local men Dermot Boyle and Barney McGinley lost their lives in this crash.
