Men set to appear in court following altercation in Buncrana

Two men are set to appear at Letterkenny District Court this morning following an altercation in Buncrana on Monday evening.

Gardai in Buncrana responded to an altercation between a number of individuals at Earlsfort Buncrana on at approximately 6pm on Monday, March 6.

A Garda spokesperson said: “All defendants observed fighting at scene. Two males in their early 20’s were arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station.

“They were charged and are scheduled to appear before Letterkenny District Court this morning at 10.30am in relation to Public Order Offences.”

Councillor Jack Murray said he was alerted to the incident by residents of Earlsfort and was “shocked by what had happened” when he arrived at the scene.

“The people in the community are traumatised by it.

“I am working along with senator Padraig MacLochlainn to liaise with Gardai and the relevant agencies to ensure decisive action is taken to resolve this ongoing, serious problem,” he said.
