Moving on Up takes '˜Leap for Fashion'

An organisation that provides services for people in the Roe Valley area with learning disabilities is preparing to take a leap onto the catwalk for charity.

Moving On Up is a small, local business based in Limavady with a training and personal development centre, providing services for young people and adults with a learning disability.

Their aim is to promote independent living skills and social acceptance and inclusion for the learning disabled within the community.

Training & Personal Development Manager, and fashion show co-ordinator, Jennie Bell said: “I believe this shows great support and belief by the local community for the work carried out by Moving On Up in providing a service to the learning disabled.

“This, in turn, gives us great encouragement and determination to continue to offer our services, and to further develop opportunities for our students.

“The annual fashion show includes children, young people and adults from all sectors of the community such as schools, community groups and local council.

“This year Moving On Up This year invited COS Roe Valley to be a part of the event and will be donating some of the funds raised to them “as they provide an excellent inclusive service to local families in need of support”, said Ms Bell.

“They not only offer services to the child in question, but open up their service to the family as a whole including siblings, parents/carers in any activities/events they offer.

“Alongside this they offer support and information to parents/carers,” said Ms Bell.

For this year’s fashion show, due to take place next weekend, Moving On Up have once again been given the support of local businesses with shops such as Petits Amis, John Paul Fashions, Pink, Wigwam, Chaps/Sub Zero, Little Miss TuTu and the Foyleside branch of Dunnes Stores coming on board to provide an array of clothes on the night.

“So, please, make sure you come along to the Roe Park Resort and, not only support this good cause, but have an amazing night in the process Leap Of Fashion on May 13th,” said Ms Bell.
