NWRC Hairdressing Student makes World Top 10

A young Derry man has made the top ten at the OMC World Hairdressing Championships in Seoul, South Korea after competing against rivals from thirteen other countries around the world.

Richard Lynch, a level 3 Hairdressing student at North West Regional College (NWRC) was placed eighth in the Senior Ladies Fantasy Hairstyle category at the finals which took place from 27th to 29th March 2016. Speaking after his success Richard said, ‘I’m delighted to have made the top ten, especially in this worldwide competition.

‘I’ve had so much support to get here from my family, friends and the lecturers at North West Regional College, I’m very grateful. These competitions help me to stay focused and work harder in preparation for the next one which I’m looking forward to already!’

Richard will now compete at the All Ireland Hairdressing Championships on 18th April in Belfast and the European Championships in Paris in September 2016. He has previously received a silver medal at the OMC European Hairdressing Championships in Paris in September 2015 and Gold in the Scottish Championships in October 2015 after qualifying at the Northern Ireland heats held in the Hilton Hotel in Belfast in April 2015.
