The price of a barrel of crude oil has increased since February which in turn has resulted in an increase in the price of home heating oil.

Aodhan O’Donnell of price comparison website Powertoswitch.co.uk explained why the price of home heating oil has increased in recent weeks.

“While the price of home heating oil remains low and competitive, it has been creeping upwards over the last few weeks.

“The average cost to fill a 500 litre tank has increased by almost 3p per litre (11 per cent) since the end of February,” he said.
