The Buncrana Road approach and Culmore Road approach to Pennyburn Roundabout will be controlled with traffic signals during the busy morning peak flows.

The lights will automatically switch on at 7.45am, every weekday morning and will switch off when peak traffic has dispersed (around 9.15am.)

Tranpsort NI say the signals may also come into operation at other times throughout the day if there are lengthy queues of traffic on the Culmore Road.

A spokesperson for DRD said: “The new signals will help to manage the traffic flows at the roundabout during this busy morning period into the city from the Culmore Road and the Buncrana Road.

“With the introduction of any new scheme the travelling public are asked to be fully aware and drive with care until they become used to the new system.”

Motorists should also be aware that new full time signalised pedestrian crossings have also been installed on the Buncrana Road approach and the Culmore Road approach to the roundabout.
