11. Smooth Down Shatter Sluggish Derry
Onto the sports section we got some disappointing match result from 50 years ago, reading: "What a disappointment for North-West G.A.A. fans. That dream of a 'derby' final-between Derry and Donegal was shattered at Lurgan on Sunday when Down annihilated the Oak Leaf side in the Ulster championship semi-final. Derry, hot favourites to join Donegal in the final, never hit their true form while Down rose to their former greatness with a display of smooth running football." Photo: Jack Tibbetts
