Business case for new regional endometriosis centre of excellence in Western Trust imminent
A business case is due to be submitted imminently for a new regional endometriosis centre of excellence in the Western Trust.
The new centre is one of two being planned by the Department of Health.
Health Minister Mike Nesbitt said: “We are also in the process of establishing two regional endometriosis centres, one in the Western Trust and the other in the Belfast Trust.”
Mr. Nesbitt was responding to a question by Foyle MLA Sinéad McLaughlin at Stormont on Tuesday.

At a recent briefing of the Stormont Health Committee Lisa McWilliams, director of acute planning and performance, confirmed: “We expect the business cases for the regional tertiary centres, which will be in the Belfast Trust and in the Western Trust, to be submitted to the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) in the next couple of weeks.”
The ‘Journal’ asked the Department of Health if the new centre will be located at Altnagelvin.
DoH said the locations for the centres have not yet been announced.
