Coronavirus: 383 cases of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 894 - 207 in the north, 687 in the south

Three hundred and eighty three cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Saturday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

As of Monday there have now been 15,652 confirmed cases in the south with 687 COVID-19 related deaths in the state. The total number of deaths in Ireland is now 894, with 207 people having died in the north.

As of 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre has been notified of an additional 401 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported by Irish laboratories.

The latest data for Donegal released tonight but referring only to cases that had been analysed up until midnight on Saturday show there have now been 383 cases in the county.

Today’s data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, reveal that as of midnight, Saturday, April 18, (15,185 cases), 56% are female and 44% are male, with 478 clusters involving 3,139 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 48 years and 2,272 cases (15%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 306 cases have been admitted to ICU.

A total of 4,009 cases are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 383 confirmed cases, a rise of 7 from 376 on Friday.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 7,666 (51% of all cases) followed by Cork with 1,047 cases (7%)

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 62%, close contact accounts for 34%, travel abroad accounts for 4%.
