Coronavirus: Twenty-three laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Derry and Strabane

Twenty-three laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Derry and Strabane, according to the latest Public Health Agency (PHA) data.

As of 9.58 a.m. on Monday, March 30, testing had resulted in 123 new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the north to 533.

To date, 22 people who have tested positive in the north have sadly died.

The latest daily surveillance report shows that over the previous 24 hours there had been 32 new confirmed cases; and 513 more tests.

One new death was confirmed since yesterday's daily report.

Twenty-three confirmed cases have been reported in Derry and Strabane compared with between 160 in Belfast.

There have been 11 lab confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

However, of the 5541 tests in the north sofar 516 have been conducted in the Western Trust, still the lowest number of tests in any health authority, compared with 2,138 in the Belfast Trust, the highest number of tests.

There have now been 3148 confirmed cases in Ireland - 2615 in the south and 533 in the north.

Sixty-eight people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 46 in the south and 22 in the north.

These totals for the country as a whole are expected to rise when the Health Protection Surveillance Centre in the south releases its daily data this evening.
