“I have suffered from mental health issues and I have also been that searcher, looking for a loved one along with his immediate family. I wanted to do this piece of work to create a conversation, especially as, during Covid 19, mental health seems to be on the back foot.

“I wanted to use photography as a tool to address the situation and show it from a searcher’s point of view, the trauma they experience and what they’re up against in order to recover a loved one. The Foyle is beautiful, but it also plays a dark role in the city.”

Teresa has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the printing of 100 copies of the book, which will cost £1800.Any donation is appreciated and those who donate £25 plus £3 post and packaging (£5 for international post) will receive a copy ‘hot off the press’ while a £35 donation will get you a signed copy.Any additional money will be donated to mental health charities. A poem written by fellow Derry woman Louise Campbell, titled, ‘If the River Could Speak’ will be featured in the book. You can donate at www.kickstarter.com/projects/teresalyle/0309-by-teresa-lyle.
