Derry artist Dylan Bradley launches solo career with debut single and a live performance
Derry's own indie singer-songwriter, Dylan Bradley, is embarking on a solo career, having just launched his debut single under the moniker 'Dylan Bradley and The Heat.'
For the last decade Dylan has spent his time touring the world and releasing records in various punk bands, garnering acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Kerrang. He has now ventured out on his own with the release of his debut single, 'Makes Me Feel Good' which sees him moving in a new direction.
Dylan said that his debut single was inspired by a trip taken across America in late 2022, this release sees Dylan exploring his americana influences through an indie-rock lens. Drawing inspiration from the Pixies, MJ Lenderman and Ben Kweller and the americana-infused guitar work of Pinegrove.
On crafting his new sound, Dylan said he began to put together a palette of sounds on which he could interrogate and meditate on the less desirable parts of human kind.

Dylan described his debut single as a powerful, yet sardonic, indie-rock track, that contemplates the irrational desire to provoke, finding joy in others' misfortune, and self-inflicted social isolation and urges that arise when jealousy and envy take over.
Reflecting on his most personal project to date, Dylan said: "Lyrically this song was really cathartic to write. As someone who spends an outrageous amount of time overthinking and second-guessing myself, It was a therapeutic experience to make a record like this. Three and a half minutes to put the fingers up to my inner monologue."
Elaborating on the musical direction of this new project, Dylan said: "Musically, the song is influenced by a trip I took to America in 2022 to go and pay homage to a lot of musical landmarks that were important to me. Being able to trace the footsteps of some of my musical heroes & explore the environments that shaped the songs that I grew up with felt really special. It changed how I felt about music & what I ultimately wanted to put out into the world.”
Dylan will perform live this Friday at Bennigan's bar, supported by the band Red Bishop.
