A Derry author who wrote about his experience as a father with Asperger’s is to embark on a book tour of the United States.

Jude Morrow, whose book ‘Why Does Daddy Always Look So Sad’ chronicles his life with Autism and journey through parenthood, has signed a book deal with publishers Beyond Words in the US.

They are the same publishers who published the worldwide bestseller ‘The Secret’.

Jude initially self published the book and garnered the interest of the American publishers after it became a hit.

“I signed up with a literary agent in California and they pitched the book to Beyond Words.

“It is crazy because they only publish ten to 15 books a year and get hundreds of thousands of submissions. The fact that they read it and considered it is a massive honour in itself. It is just unreal.”

Since the book’s release, Judge has been speaking to groups of local children with Autism and raising money for organisations which support them.

“I talk to the young people and let them know that it is going to be alright when they leave school or begin to live independently. I wish I had someone like me when I was their age to tell me that the future can be bright or someone to ask questions of.”

Jude is due to go to America next month for a book tour, which includes a signing at America’s largest book seller Barnes and Noble.

During his week long visit to the States, Jude will also speak at a careers expo, promoting careers for people with Autism, in California and give a guest lecture at Stanford University.
