Derry Halloween festivities to continue After Dark

Derry will come alive with song and dance as the Halloween festival continues into the night with this year’s After Dark Music Trail.

Over 100 gigs will take place across the city from Friday 28 to Monday 31 October with a huge range of bands and singers performing into the spooky wee hours. Some venues include The Rocking Chair Bar, Spaghetti Junction, Brickwork, Badgers, Da Vinci's and The Bentley Bar, and more.

A huge range of local musical talent will take place from the likes of the John Leighton Trio and OHANA. Sandino’s will play host to two headline acts with Alabama 3 playing on Friday 28 while Hudson Taylor and a special guest will take to the stage on Saturday October 29. Local restaurants will also be getting involved and providing entertainment following food service such as The Cosh Bar and Grill, The Magnet and The Embankment Bar and Grill. As well as an Abba Tribute Act in Link 47 and We Loved Sax in Rosie Joes. A total of 112 gigs will take place across the city giving everyone the opportunity to get out and do the monster mash with friends and families.

Waterloo Street and The Guildhall Square will be a hive of Halloween activity all weekend and the musical delights will continue in local bars like the Dungloe Bar and Tracey’s Bar as well as The Guildhall Tap House. Bennigans Bar and The Grand Central have live music on at different times throughout the weekend. 3D Digital Halloween Skeleton Bands will take place at the Hidden City Café, AOH will play host to the fabulous Ringabellas and The Thirsty Goat has live music in both their Beer Garden and inside the bar with a number of different acts throughout the weekend.

Events Manager, Derry City and Strabane District Council, Jacqueline Whoriskey, said she was delighted to launch this year’s After Dark Music Trail.

She said: “We’re really excited to launch this year’s ‘After Dark Music Trail’. Our Halloween Festival is going from strength to strength every year and we’re delighted to add even more entertainment to this year’s already jam-packed programme of events.

“Over 100 music gigs will take place over the weekend from Friday right through to Monday night. Derry is renowned for its music scene and we have an abundance of talent on our doorstep. We have loads on for all the family throughout the day and into the evening, and it’s great that we can extend the entertainment into the night and keep the Halloween festivities alive.”
