Factory horn to sound at 8pm in honour of NHS

The Ebrington Factory horn will sound out across the city and district tonight (Thursday) at 8pm in honour of the NHS and all frontline staff battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Michaela Boyle, says the sounding of the horn at the former shirt factory is a poignant and heartfelt gesture that will resonate with people across the region.

A testing exercise and pre-recording took place earlier on Thursday by staff who will facilitate the live sounding later in the evening.

Extending her thanks to everyone involved in helping to make this happen, the Mayor said she hoped it would be heard by thousands of people across the city and district who step out every week to applaud and say thank you to all frontline staff who are working to save lives and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
