Supt. McGovern said anyone not adhering to guidance will be told to return to their primary residence.

“If you are not in your jurisdiction then you are not in your permanent residence and you shouldn’t be here. People are being advised to go home. Any unnecessary movement between jurisdictions is also not advisable.”

Supt McGovern said while Gardai are in place to enforce the guidance issued by the government, people also have a responsibility to adhere to this themselves.

“Everyone has a significant responsibility to take responsibility for their actions. They should not be undertaking any engagement which doesn’t need to take place.”

Supt McGovern said the majority of people are adhering to guidelines and social distancing and are taking on board the advice issued.
