Seanain McCallion is a massive fan of local YouTube sensation Adam B and he provided the inspiration for the St Eithne’s Primary School pupil to set up her own channel.

She says she now wants to be an even bigger star than her idol.

Seanain has multiple complex medical conditions, including Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

She requires round the clock care, is paralysed from the waist down and received her first wheelchair when she was just one and a half years old.

Seanain also requires oxygen through a ventilator at night, is tube fed and due to recent difficulties with her bowel Seanain had a stoma bag fitted in January last year.

However, Seanain has such a positive outlook on life and is rarely seen without a huge smile on her face.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the McCallion family have been shielding and the only time Seanain left her home was to attend hospital appointments.

She underwent major surgery just last month to have 20cm of her small bowel removed.

The eight-year-old decided to set up her YouTube channel to do something positive with her time and also to share what it is like to live with her conditions.

Seanain has also made videos showing people how her tube feeds work and how her stoma bag gets changed.

She films all the videos herself and in just over a week she has gained 100 followers.

Mum Kathleen said Seanain is incredibly inquisitive and wants the videos, which will be posted every few days, to be informative.

“I’m enjoying the fact that she is doing something productive with it and that she is having fun with it. It is raising awareness for people who don’t have an understanding what it is like to have complex medical conditions or what it is like for a carer, although Seanain makes it so easy.

“She is just a delight, she is my partner in crime who is by my side 24/7.

“Seanain is always so positive and everywhere she goes everybody knows her. Now she wants to be a YouTube sensation and get as many followers as possible.”

Seanain is a massive Strictly Come Dancing fan and said she will make videos showing off her moves in the future, but for now is focusing on her conditions.

She has to spend a lot of time in and out of hospital and said she will continue to make videos while she is an inpatient because she ‘enjoys the craic with all the doctors and nurses’.

Seanain said she wants to be a bigger star than Adam B and would love him to see her videos.
