IN PICTURES: The Derry Journal archive from time of Bloody Sunday 1972

These pages and images from the Derry Journal archive demonstrate and give a sense of the scale of the shock and the enormity of the impact the killings and damage inflicted on Bloody Sunday had at the time, an impact still felt 50 years on.

The reports are from the Derry Journal editions in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.

Many of the Derry Journal’s own staff were on the ground that day, as they are again today as the families, the city and people from across Ireland and beyond gather in the city to honour the memory of the 14 whose lives were cut short in the Bogside on January 30, 1972. R.I.P.
