The things we love about travelling are often the same things we love about home – food, music, arts and people.

From Friday, February 28 and March 1, where the Intercultural Leap festival is bringing, through contributions of people who live across the peninsula, the best of home and away.

The Intercultural Leap festival is celebrating people who have come to make Inishowen home and celebrating the best of Inishowen that makes them stay.

Inishowen’s first festival of 2020 will showcase the skills, stories, and histories that make up Inishowen today.

Building of last year’s Middle Eastern festival, the net has been cast wide and welcomes contributions from people from all cultures living in Inishowen as well as showcasing the best of

Inishowen’s own stories, crafts, music.

Culture Night on Friday, February 28 from 7-9pm in the Coffee House Carndonagh will host storytelling, recitations, sharing experiences in a warm atmosphere with delicious food. Find out more about Petcha Kucha, a Japanese method of storytelling, learn some Danish paper art or discover new stories about Inishowen.

Music workshop, art workshops, and games from around the world are open to all ages on Sunday, March from 1 from 11am – 3pm in Spraoi agus Spórt. Between the singing, creating and playing there will a be fabulous Middle Eastern lunch, performance art to delight and demonstrations of the fine crafts of Inishowen. Kids will love all the activities, learn some new games, and will be singing in other languages.

The evening of Sunday, March 1 from 6-8pm in The Colgan Hall will host the Intercultural Leap gathering where we share food and stories of our heritage to the backdrop of music and art. There will be a concert of choirs, bands, and a good oul’ session. Find out people’s favourite dish to share – something always cooked in their house or maybe something adopted from travelling elsewhere.

Just bring a dish and enjoy the world brought to your doorstep.

The festival is presented by Inishowen Together and more detail is available on the Inishowen Together Facebook page. For any enquiries call Siobhan Shiels on 0863580502.
